The Sport Introductory Diploma Level 1 provides a blend of theoretical learning and hands-on experience, helping you develop essential coaching and instructing abilities while enhancing your confidence and professionalism.

Throughout the course, you will explore key topics that introduce you to the sports industry, covering fundamental principles, industry expectations, and employer-related skills. The course also focuses on improving your academic abilities, ensuring you are well-prepared for further study and career opportunities in sport.

With a variety of engaging units and diverse assessment methods, you will gain a solid skill base that supports your future progression. Whether you are passionate about coaching, fitness, or general sports development, this course serves as an excellent starting point for your journey in the industry.

  • Assisting in a Sports Activity
  • Contributing to Running a Sports Event

During the year, you may have the opportunity to participate in leadership activities to develop your employability skills. The College also has a wide range of links with local sports organisations. You will also have the opportunity to complete the below qualifications:

  • Earth Week โ€“ Tackling the Climate Emergency Level 1
  • First Aid Awareness Level 1
  • Digital Skills Level 1
  • Sport Enterprise Level 1
  • Work Readiness Skills Level 1
  • Outdoor Skills Level 1

In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.

To study the Sport Introductory Diploma Level 1, you will need 2 GCSEs at grades 2 or above (old GCSE grade E or above) or equivalent including English or Maths.

The Sport Introductory Diploma Level 1 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college for up to 5 days per week at our Peter Paine Performance Centre in Boston, plus approximately 24 hours of independent study per week.

The Sport Introductory Diploma Level 1 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

If you are aged 19+, this course will cost ยฃ1500.

You will be assessed by a mix of practical assessments and theory assessments, including coursework assignments, presentations, group practical work, and individual practical work.

Successfully completing the Sport Introductory Diploma Level 1 can significantly enhance your career prospects within the health, leisure, and sports industries. This qualification provides a strong foundation of knowledge and practical skills, making you more competitive in entry-level roles within these fields.
