The City & Guilds Level 2 Extended Technical Occupational Entry in Engineering (Manufacturing) Diploma provides you with the foundational knowledge, practical skills, and workplace behaviours needed to enter the engineering sector or progress to Apprenticeships and employment. This course emphasises hands-on training and real-world application, ensuring students develop competencies that align with industry standards and employer expectations in production engineering.
This qualification focuses on vocational learning, prioritizing practical skills over abstract theory to ensure students gain immediate workplace relevance. It also introduces digital tools such as CAD/CAM and sustainable engineering practices, preparing students for the evolving technological landscape. Additionally, flexible pathways allow students to tailor their training to local industry demands or personal career interests.
By completing this course, students will develop into confident, skilled, and adaptable professionals, fully equipped to meet the demands of the modern engineering industry.

In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
To study the Manufacturing Engineering Extended Technical Diploma Level 2, you will need to have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (old GCSE grade D or above) or equivalent, including English, Maths, or Science.
The Manufacturing Engineering Extended Technical Diploma Level 2 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for 3-4 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston, plus independent study.
The Manufacturing Engineering Extended Technical Diploma Level 2 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost Β£1500.

You will be assessed via theory exams and practical assessments.
Successfully completing the Manufacturing Engineering Extended Technical Diploma Level 2 prepares students for a range of career opportunities in the engineering and manufacturing sectors. You can secure employment in roles such as CNC Operator, Manufacturing Technician, or CAD/CAM Technician, working in industries including automotive, aerospace, and industrial production.
