The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism course is designed to provide you with a wide range of essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in the world’s largest and fastest-growing industry. You will explore key areas of the sector, including customer service, marketing, visitor attractions, and special interest tourism, gaining a solid understanding of how the industry operates both in the UK and internationally.
This course combines classroom-based learning with practical activities, giving you the chance to apply your knowledge in real-world settings. You will take part in educational visits to popular tourist attractions and industry venues, helping to bring your learning to life and ensure it is relevant and hands-on. This qualification is ideal for students looking to develop practical skills, build confidence, and take the first step toward a vibrant career in travel and tourism.
During the course, you will cover a variety of mandatory topics, alongside an additional 5 optional topics.
Year 1:
Year 2:
An additional 2 optional topics in Year 1 and 3 optional topics in Year 2 will be studied. You will also undertake a work placement alongside your studies at the College, and have the opportunity to complete the qualification in Earth Week – Tackling the Climate Emergency Level 3.
To study the Travel and Tourism Extended Diploma Level 3, you will need to have 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (old GCSE grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
The Travel and Tourism Extended Diploma Level 3 will take you 2 years to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for 4 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston.
The Travel and Tourism Extended Diploma Level 3 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £6602.

You will be assessed via a combination of internal and external assessments, including written work, role plays, group work, and individual presentations.
Successful completion of the Travel and Tourism Extended Diploma Level 3 an open up a range of exciting opportunities for your future. You may choose to progress onto a Higher Education qualification in Travel and Tourism, which can further enhance your skills and career prospects. Alternatively, you could enter the workforce directly, with potential roles in areas such as travel agencies, tour operations, customer service, hospitality, or visitor attractions.
