The Teaching Assistant Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 offers a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to work effectively with children and young people in both school and college settings. This apprenticeship provides you with a deep understanding of the role of a teaching assistant and prepares you for a rewarding career in education.
Throughout the program, you will gain expertise in various areas of specialist support, such as planning, delivering, and reviewing assessment strategies to enhance learning in collaboration with teachers. You’ll also learn how to provide bilingual support for students from diverse linguistic backgrounds, and special needs support to ensure all children can access a quality education. Additionally, the apprenticeship focuses on developing your personal growth and fostering a reflective practice, helping you to continuously improve and adapt in a professional educational environment. This qualification provides the perfect foundation for a successful career in educational support.
As an Teaching Assistant Apprentice you will be employed in a school setting gaining industry expertise whilst you carry out the role.
During the course, you will attend workshops delivered by industry trained staff which will enable you to carry out the written work to complete your qualification. You will be supported to reach the gateway to end point assessment to achieve the Apprenticeship Standard.
To study the Teaching Assistant Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3, you will need to have 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (old GCSE grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
The Teaching Assistant Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 will take you 2 years to complete. You will attend college for half a day per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston. You will also attend your Apprenticeship with your Employer for 4 and a half days per week.
As an Apprentice, you will pay no course fees. However, your employer may have to pay towards your training as well as providing you with a wage (please see below).

There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in.
Aged 16 to 18.The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £6.40 per hour.
Aged 19 or over and in your first year.The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £6.40 per hour.
Aged 19 or over and have completed your first year.You’re entitled to the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for your age.

You will be assigned an Assessor who will observe your practice in your school setting throughout the duration of your course. Your Assessor will offer support and guidance while using a variety of assessment methods to help you achieve the requirements of the qualification.
When you, your Employer and your Assessor feel you are ready, you will be put forward for the End Point Assessment which will be carried out independently.
Upon completing the Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Level 3, you will have several exciting progression opportunities available to you. You could choose to further your studies with a Foundation Degree in Learning Support/SEND, enhancing your knowledge and qualifications. Alternatively, you might progress into a Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor role, taking on greater responsibility in managing school settings. Another option is pursuing a career as a Teacher, continuing your journey in education.
