The NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the physical activity and sport sector. This vocational qualification equips students with the practical skills, knowledge, and competencies necessary to pursue careers in various roles within the sports industry, including coaching, fitness training, wellbeing and health promotion.

Your learning will take place at the Peter Paine Performance Centre, a state-of-the-art facility that operates as a real working environment outside of lesson hours, providing valuable hands-on experience to help you develop the essential skills needed for a career in sport.

Successful completion of this course will enable students to progress on to Higher Education, which could be on the Community Coaching HNC Level 4 available at Boston College.

You will also undertake a minimum of 30 hours work experience each year alongside your studies at the College. Staff will support with this as much as possible, it is hoped that students will find their own opportunity for a work placement.

During the course, you will also have the opportunity to complete the below qualifications:

  • Emergency First Aid at Work Award Level 3
  • Digital Skills Level 3
  • Sport and Wellbeing Enrichment Level 3
  • Coaching Multiskills Development in Sport Award
  • Industry Skills for Work Level 3

To study the Sport and Physical Activity Extended Diploma Level 3, you will need 5 GCSEs at grades 4 or above (old GCSE grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths. Other qualifications that are equivalent will be considered.

The Sport and Physical Activity Extended Diploma Level 3 will take you 2 years to complete. You will attend college for up to 5 days per week at our Peter Paine Performance Centre in Boston, plus independent study. You will also be expected to complete a work placement of a minimum of 30 hours per year.

This Sport and Physical Activity Extended Diploma Level 3 course is free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

For those aged 19+, this course will cost: ยฃ7395.

Aged 19+?
If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until youโ€™re earning ยฃ25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. You will be assessed by a mix of practical assessments and theory assessments, including practical observations, written reports, presentations, interviews, posters , group-based work, and video presentations.

Successfully completing the Sport and Physical Activity Extended Diploma Level 3 will enhance your career prospects within the health, leisure, and sports industries, providing you with the skills and knowledge needed for a variety of roles, such as fitness instruction, sports coaching, and recreation management.

In addition to improving your employment opportunities, this qualification also serves as a stepping stone to Higher Education. You will have the option to progress to University Level courses, including the Community Coaching HNC Level 4 available at the College, allowing you to further develop your expertise and advance your career.
