To help address the ongoing skills shortage in the construction industry, this Level 2 Technical Certificate in Site Carpentry is designed for individuals looking to build a career as a site carpenter. Site carpenters play a crucial role in construction projects, using their expertise to cut, fasten, carve, and assemble structures made from wood and other materials. Their craftsmanship ensures the structural integrity and aesthetic quality of buildings.
This qualification provides comprehensive training in the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in site carpentry. It covers fundamental techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices, preparing learners for further education, apprenticeships, or direct employment in the sector. Whether you aim to advance your skills through additional training or step into the workforce, this course lays the foundation for a successful career in carpentry, contributing to the industry’s need for skilled professionals.
In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
To study the Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2 you will need to have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (old GCSE grade D or above) or equivalent, including English or Maths, or Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths.
It is desired that you have completed a Level 1 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery.
The Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for a maximum of 4 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston, plus independent study.
The Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1500.

You will be assessed via a practical assessment and a theory exam.
Upon successfully completing the Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2, students will be prepared to take the next step in their careers. Many will choose to continue their training by securing an Apprenticeship, allowing them to gain hands-on experience while further developing their skills. Others may transition directly into employment within the construction industry, working as Site Carpenters or in related roles.
