What will I do?
During the course, you will cover topics related to quantities, communications and construction technology, and training in all areas of site carpentry. Topics may include:
- Carrying out First Fix Flooring and Roofing
- Carrying out First Fix Frames, Partitions, and Stairs
- Carrying out Second Fixing Operations
- Carrying out Carpentry Maintenance
- Setting up and Operating a Circular Saw
- The Principles of Construction, Information, and Communication
In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
Entry Qualifications
To study the Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2 you will need to have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (old GCSE grade D or above) or equivalent, including English or Maths, or Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths.
It is desired that you have completed a Level 1 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery.
Attendance
The Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for a maximum of 4 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston, plus independent study.
Fees
The Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1500.

How Will I Be Assessed
You will be assessed via a practical assessment and a theory exam.
Where Could It Lead?
Upon successfully completing the Site Carpentry Technical Certificate Level 2, students will be prepared to take the next step in their careers. Many will choose to continue their training by securing an Apprenticeship, allowing them to gain hands-on experience while further developing their skills. Others may transition directly into employment within the construction industry, working as Site Carpenters or in related roles.
