The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Plumbing builds on the foundational knowledge gained in a Level 2 qualification in Plumbing and is designed for individuals looking to advance their expertise. This qualification is ideal for those who wish to develop the specialised technical and professional skills required for a successful and rewarding career in the plumbing industry.

The course covers a range of advanced topics, including complex plumbing systems, gas and water regulations, and sustainability in modern plumbing practices. By completing this qualification, students will enhance their problem solving abilities, technical proficiency, and industry knowledge, making them highly employable.

What will I do?

During the course, you will cover a variety of topics, including:
  • Cold Water System Planning and Design
  • Hot Water System Planning and Design
  • Central Heating System Planning and Design
  • Sanitation System Planning and Design
  • Environmental Technology Systems
  • Site Procedures and Planning

In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.

To study the Plumbing Advanced Technical Diploma Level 3, you will need to have 2 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (old GCSE grade D or above) or equivalent, including English or Maths, or Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths.

You will also need to have completed a Level 2 qualification in Plumbing.

The Plumbing Advanced Technical Diploma Level 3 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for a maximum of 4 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston, plus independent study.

The Plumbing Advanced Technical Diploma Level 3 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

You will be assessed via a practical assessment and a theory exam.

Upon completing the Plumbing Advanced Technical Diploma Level 3, students have several pathways for career progression. They can choose to further develop their skills through an Apprenticeship, gaining practical, hands-on experience in a real world setting. Alternatively, they may enter the workforce directly, securing employment in the plumbing or construction industry. For those interested in further academic advancement, this qualification can also serve as a stepping stone to Higher Education, such as advanced certifications or Degree qualifications in Plumbing and Building Services.

Additional costs include textbooks (approximately ยฃ40) and stationery (approximately ยฃ15). PPE relevant to the workshop environment is mandatory and will be an additional cost.
