If you are passionate about performance and thrive in a creative, energetic environment, the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice is designed for you. Aimed at Actors, Singers, and Dancers, this course will help you take your talent to the next level. Delivered by experienced lecturers with real industry expertise, the course covers Performance, Improvisation, Street Theatre, and the Business of Performing Arts – providing a comprehensive overview of how to succeed as a modern Performer.
This course focuses on developing entrepreneurial performers with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to promote themselves and their work. You will apply what you learn in real-world contexts through live projects, workshops, and public performances. There is a strong emphasis on building a professional portfolio, with opportunities to showcase your talent to live audiences in a variety of settings.
As a Performing Arts student, you will have access to all our fully equipped and dedicated Music and Performing Arts Campus, Sam Newsom Centre. The facilities include a large auditorium, a dance studio, and six rehearsal rooms.
During the course, you will cover topics including:
Practical work, performances, and building your portfolio form a large part of this course. You will gain practical experience through a variety of tasks including planning and organising events, workshops, and projects. Throughout the course, you will develop performance skills through live shows in a variety of settings, and create a professional portfolio to showcase your work and support your career development.
You will also experience guest speakers working in the industry, including local artists, businesses, and creative practitioners. During the course, you will also have the opportunity to complete the below qualifications:
To study the Performing Arts Extended Diploma Level 3, you will need to have 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (old GCSE grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths. You will also be required to attend an audition to demonstrate your creative skills in singing, acting, or dancing.
The Performing Arts Extended Diploma Level 3 will take you 2 years to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for 3 days per week at our Sam Newsom Centre in Boston, plus independent study.
The Performing Arts Extended Diploma Level 3 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £7395.

You will be assessed through practical assessments and theory assessments. This includes projects, group work, and self-evaluation.
Successful completion of the Performing Arts Extended Diploma Level 3 opens the door to exciting opportunities in both Higher Education and employment. You can progress to university to study subjects including Performing Arts or Creative Business. Alternatively, you may choose to enter the workforce in a variety of creative roles.
