The Level 4 Certificate in Micropigmentation is an advanced qualification in cosmetic tattooing, designed to enhance facial features through semi-permanent makeup techniques. The course covers Client Consultations, Treatment Planning, Application Techniques, and Aftercare, ensuring high-quality results tailored to individual needs. Approved by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), this qualification meets industry standards and opens career opportunities in salons, aesthetic clinics, or self-employment. It equips you with the expertise to perform professional micropigmentation treatments safely and effectively.
The Level 4 Certificate in Enhancing Eyebrows with Microblading Techniques is an advanced therapies qualification aimed 18+ learners, who wish to pursue a career as a Microblading Technician. This qualification has been developed collaboratively with employers and professional associations and key stakeholders in the advanced therapies sector, and is formally supported British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) by Vanilla Pod Beauty, Changes clinic of Excellence and Elements Medispa.
What will I do?
During the course, you will cover a variety of topics.
Micropigmentation Certificate Level 4:
- Management of Health, Safety and Security in the Salon
- Quality Management of Client Care in the Hair and Beauty Sector
- Enhance Appearance Using Micropigmentation Treatment
Enhancing Eyebrows with Microblading Techniques Certificate Level 4:
- Client Care and Consultation
- Enhance Appearance Using Microblading Techniques
- Anatomy and Physiology for Microblading Techniques
- Eyebrow Shaping Services
- Health and Safety in the Salon
In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
Entry Qualifications
To study this course, you will need to have completed a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification and you must be at least 18 years of age on 31st August of the year that you start the course.
Attendance
This course will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college for 1 day per week from September to December at our Rochford Campus in Boston. Following this, you will complete online assessment work until June, alongside possible online exams in January and June.
Fees
This course may be fully funded by the Adult Education Budget should you be eligible under the following criteria:
- Be aged 19 or older on the 31st August
- Be either unemployed and receiving JSA, ESA or Universal Credit (subject to criteria) OR be earning less than ยฃ25,000 (annual gross salary) a year
If you do not qualify for funding, the Micropigmentation Certificate Level 4 will cost ยฃ1,645 and the Enhancing Eyebrows with Microblading Techniques Certificate Level 4 will cost ยฃ941. Please note this is delivered as a combined course so payment/loan for each certificate is required.

How Will I Be Assessed
You will be assessed via practical assessments on clients, a portfolio, assignments, and online exams.
