The NCFE CACHE Level 1 Award in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings course offers a comprehensive introduction to the fields of health and social care, including children's and young people's settings. This programme is designed to equip you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to begin a career in the health and social care sector.

During the course, you will gain essential certifications, hands-on experience, and theoretical understanding, preparing you for further education or entry-level employment in health and social care. This course serves as a crucial stepping-stone for individuals passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

You will develop a strong foundation in key care principles, enhancing your employability and confidence in providing compassionate and effective support. Whether you aspire to work in residential care, hospitals, or community settings, this qualification will help you take the first step towards a fulfilling career in care.

What will I do?

During the course, you will cover topics including:

  • Principles, Values and Practices in Health and Social Care
  • The Importance of Person-centred Care
  • The Importance of Confidentiality
  • The Importance of Safeguarding

You will also complete Care training qualifications including:

  • Moving and Handling
  • First Aid Awareness

In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.

To study the Health and Social Care Certificate Level 1, you will need 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above (old GCSE grade E or above) or equivalent.

The Health and Social Care Certificate Level 1 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college at our Rochford Campus in Boston.

The Health and Social Care Certificate Level 1 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

If you are aged 19+, this course will cost ยฃ1500.

You will be assessed via practical observations and written assessments.
