The First Aid at Work Award Level 3 qualification is your solution to your workplace first aid risk assessment requirement for a First Aider in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, and provides you with the knowledge and skills to take on the responsibilities of a First Aider in the workplace.

The first day of this course includes the Emergency First Aid at Work Award Level 3, with the remaining days forming the First Aid at Work Award Level 3.

What will I do?

On the first day, you will complete the Emergency First Aid at Work Award Level 3. You will cover topics, such as:

  • Legislation around First Aid
  • What First Aid Is and the Responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Action to Take in an Emergency
  • Primary Survey
  • Secondary Assessment
  • The Respiratory System
  • Resuscitation and AED
  • Disorders of Respiration
  • Disorders of Circulation
  • Wounds and Bleeding
  • Seizures
  • Minor Burns and Scalds
  • Foreign Objects

On the remaining days, you will cover topics including:

  • Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
  • Recap of DR ABC, Secondary Assessment, Top to Toe Survey, Gathering Casualty History, Recovery Position
  • Bones, Joints and Muscle Injuries
  • Head and Spinal Injuries
  • Chest and Abdominal Injuries
  • Specialised Burn Injuries
  • Eye Injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Major Illness (Heart Attack and Angina, Stroke, Epilepsy, Asthma Attack, and Diabetic Emergency)

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

The First Aid at Work Award Level 3 will take you 3 days to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for 3 days at our Rochford Campus in Boston, Horncastle Campus, or Spalding Campus.

The First Aid at Work Award Level 3 course will cost ยฃ330 per person.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

Your practical skills will be assessed throughout the duration of the course, leading to a final assessment where you will work independently to apply life-saving procedures across a range of simulated incidents and casualty complexities. There will also be written assessments at the end of the first and third days.

Successful completion of this course will equip you with the skills/knowledge needed to progress in the workplace. You could progress to being awarded the FAA Level 5 First Aid at Work qualification.
