The NCFE Entry to the Uniformed Services Diploma Level 2 course offers a dynamic and engaging curriculum that blends classroom learning with hands-on outdoor activities. This innovative approach ensures students develop transferable skills that can be applied in the workplace or further study. Boston College collaborates with Lincolnshire Police and other public service organisations to provide students with an authentic and immersive learning experience.
This course is designed to build essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours under the guidance of expert staff with extensive backgrounds in public service and industry. Throughout the year, students will explore various aspects of the Uniformed Public Services, gaining insight into careers within the police, military, fire service, and emergency response sectors. Upon successful completion, learners can progress to a Level 3 qualification or enter employment in their chosen field.
The course promotes key values such as curiosity, independence, resilience, and self-awareness, helping students develop a deep understanding of public services and their role within the community. With a strong emphasis on both theory and practical learning, modules are carefully selected to ensure clear progression. The department works closely with Lincolnshire Police, the RAF, the Royal Navy, and the British Army, ensuring a well-rounded and career-focused educational experience.

In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
To study the Entry to the Uniformed Public Services Diploma Level 2, you will need 4 GCSEs including a grade 3 or above in English, or Functional Skills English and Maths Level 2.
Suitability for this course will also be assessed by interview.
The Entry to the Uniformed Public Services Diploma Level 2 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college for up to 5 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston or our Peter Paine Performance Centre in Boston, plus approximately 24 hours of independent study per week.
The Entry to the Uniformed Public Services Diploma Level 2 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1500.

You will be assessed by a variety of methods, including observations, written assessments, academic posters and discussions with tutors.
Successfully completing the Entry to the Uniformed Public Services Diploma Level 2 can enable further education or employment. You may progress to higher level Uniformed Public Services courses, where you will develop advanced knowledge and practical skills. Alternatively, this qualification can help you pursue a career in the Armed Forces or related industries such as security, emergency services, or public safety. The skills gained in this course, including teamwork, problem-solving, and physical fitness, will prepare you for a wide range of opportunities, giving you the confidence to take the next step toward your future career.
