The CACHE Caring for Children Diploma Level 1 is designed to inspire and support students in developing essential skills and knowledge for caring for young children. This course is ideal for a diverse range of individuals, including young people looking to build life skills and those considering a future career in childcare.
Covering the age range from birth to five years and 11 months, the course provides a foundational understanding of early years education and child development. Students will explore key topics such as child wellbeing, play, and communication, all of which are essential for creating a nurturing environment. Additionally, the course helps develop vital personal and professional skills, preparing students for further studies in the childcare sector. Through engaging lessons and practical insights, this diploma serves as an excellent stepping stone for those who wish to progress into more advanced qualifications or careers in early childhood education and care.

In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
To study the Caring for Children Diploma Level 1, you will need to have 2 GCSEs at grade 2 or above (old GCSE grade E or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths, or an ESOL Entry Level 3 qualification.
The Caring for Children Diploma Level 1 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for 3-4 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston.
The Caring for Children Diploma Level 1 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost ยฃ1500.

You will be assessed via practical assessments and course work, including observations, booklets, and posters.
Upon completing your Caring for Children Diploma Level 1, you will have the foundational knowledge and skills needed to take the next step in your education and career. You can progress onto a Level 2 childcare qualification which will further enhance your understanding of early years education.
