Beauty Specialist Techniques Diploma Level 2
Add to ShortlistThe VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Specialist Techniques is designed to develop your practical skills in a range of professional beauty treatments, equipping you with the expertise needed to work confidently in the beauty therapy industry. This qualification provides hands-on training in essential treatments such as skincare, waxing, manicure, pedicure, and makeup application.
This course will enhance your skills to a high level of occupational ability, enabling you to perform salon services professionally and meet industry standards. You will also gain knowledge in client consultation, hygiene, and business awareness, ensuring you are well-prepared for employment.
Upon successful completion, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification for advanced skills development or enter the industry as a Junior Beauty Therapist in a salon, spa, or as a self-employed beauty professional.
What will I do?
During the course, you will cover topics including:
- Follow Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
- Client Care and Communication in Beauty-related Industries
- Provide Manicure Treatments
- Provide Pedicure Treatments
- Apply Make-up
- Provide Eyelash and Brow Treatments
- Provide Facial Skin Care
- Remove Hair Using Waxing Techniques
- Salon Reception Duties
- Apply Skin Tanning Techniques
- Contribute to the Effective Running of the Business
- Instruction on Make-up Application
- Provide Eyelash Lifting
You will also undertake 15 hours of work experience alongside your studies at the College and have the opportunity to complete the below qualifications:
- Earth Week โ Tackling the Climate Emergency Level 2
- Preventing Contact Dermatitis Award Level 2
In addition to your course, you may also study either GCSE or Functional Skills English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
Entry Qualifications
To study the Beauty Specialist Techniques Diploma Level 2 you will need to have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (old GCSE grade D or above) or equivalent, including a grade 4 in English or Maths.
Attendance
The Beauty Specialist Techniques Diploma Level 2 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college from 9:00am-4:30pm for 4 days per week at our Spalding Campus. You will also be expected to complete 15 hours of work experience, plus independent study.
Fees
The Beauty Specialist Techniques Diploma Level 2 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost ยฃ1500.

How Will I Be Assessed
You will be assessed via practical assessments on clients, a portfolio, workbooks, case studies, and online exams.
Where Could It Lead?
Successful completion of the Beauty Specialist Techniques Diploma Level 2 will equip you with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue a career in the beauty therapy industry. This qualification provides a strong foundation in various beauty treatments, client care, and professional standards. Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification, further enhancing your expertise. Additionally, this diploma may lead directly to employment as a Junior Beauty Therapist in a salon or even self-employment, allowing you to build your own client base.
