STUDENT SUPPORT
Arriving and adjusting
If you are coming to the
Airport Welcome
You can travel to the
The first few days
The Boston College Welcome booklet will be given to you on arrival, providing lots of essential information including maps and helpful tips to help you in the first days. It will also include the details of the induction programme so that you know where you have to be and when. You will be introduced to other new students, shown around the college and the town and very soon you will be making friends and settling into college life.
Feeling home sick? Don’t worry, it’s natural. There are lots of people to help you – in the International Office, the Accommodation Office, your Personal Tutor and the Counsellors. Remember … We are here to help.
Induction programme
In the first few days you will meet staff from the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) department who will assess your level of English so that we know what support you will need. If you need advice about your course you can talk to tutors or our student advisors. We’ll help you open a bank account, register with a local doctor, register with the police and anything else you need to do to start your new life. There will be some visits to nearby cities and fun activities to help you feel at home.
A big Welcome Lunch will be arranged which provides the opportunity to meet staff, students from other countries and to make new friends. Soon after this you will join your course and the teaching will begin.
Care and support
Keeping in touch
After you have enrolled onto your course you will be given access to the college computer system which you can use for assignment work but also to contact family and friends. Students living in the Hall of Residence will have FREE access to Broadband in their room.
