Boston College has been named a lead partner in the brand new Government scheme 'Train to Gain' for the East Midlands and East of England area. We will be co-ordinating training from providers across these regions, conducting consultation work and audits with businesses and sourcing funding for you.

Work Based Learning

The Work-Based Learning team is focussed on the needs of employers, and provides training that is tailored to the needs of local companies and their employees. We are the only college in Lincolnshire to have gained the EMSkills award: the East Midlands quality mark for learning providers offering excellent service to businesses.

We work closely with local employers to offer opportunities that are relevant, targeted and effective. Changes in legislation often dictate the training requirements of employers and staff, and recent changes in the law have led to a number of new courses being offered, including certificates for door staff, security guards and licensees.

The courses listed opposite are designed for people who do not meet the eligibility criteria for schemes such as Train to Gain or Apprenticeships, and are suitable for people who have access to a relevant workplace.

We also offer a business consultancy service which consists of an audit of your organisation’s skills base, and suggests options for training staff. Employer-Led Qualifications for the over 25s

Learners over 25 have numerous opportunities to access work-based learning, and we are dedicated to ensuring that all local companies and their employees will be able to benefit from a variety of training options.

Schemes such as ‘Train to Gain’, (formerly the National Employer Training Programme), offers companies access to funded training. As a learner you will be able to access your first full level 2 qualification as well as address any English, Maths or IT training you may need. Learning will take place in your workplace as the Boston College Work-Based Learning team will work in conjunction with the college’s main curriculum areas and partner organizations to deliver training in a variety of sectors.
