This course combines a basic introduction to hair and beauty with work experience. You will study many areas including: introduction to the hair and beauty Sector, presenting a professional image in a salon, shampooing and conditioning, basic make up, welcoming visitors, job opportunities in hair and beauty sector, making and receiving calls, career progression, preparing for work, working as a part of a group, communicating electronically and plan and participate in an event and maintain health and safety of self and others in the work place.
This course will help you to understand aspects of the hair and beauty sector and the skills required to work successfully in the industry.
What will I do?
This course will help you to developed practical skills, theoretical knowledge and the awareness of aspects relating to the basic part of hairdressing and Beauty.
You will study the Level 1 BTEC Diploma in Vocational studies.
You will be encouraged to develop your employability skills including time management, communication skills, research skills and teamwork. As a part of the course you will gain a valuable work experience which will be arranged by the College.
There are no formal entry qualifications for this course.
This course is free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.
For those aged 19+, this course will cost £1200.

This course will take you 1 year, September to June, to complete. You will study at College for a minimum of 3-4 days a week, plus work experience.
