If you are passionate about film, television and graphic design, and enjoy working in a creative, exciting environment, then studying Creative Media Production is the course for you. 

You will work within our fully functional TV Studio, creative editing suites, and photography studio to generate personalised projects relating to topics that interest you, and engage with local businesses to work on 'real world' projects.  You will learn how to construct films, documentaries, music videos, live broadcasts, advertising campaigns, photography, posters, product packaging and much more.

Your lecturers all have a working knowledge of the Media industry and are still actively involved in the business outside of the College, resulting in accurate, up to date knowledge being shared in lectures. 
In your first year you will study the 90 Credit Diploma. This can be standalone qualification that is equivalent to 3 AS levels. The Extended Diploma is completed in the second year and is equivalent to 3 A-levels.

You will study a total of 19 different units covering film, television, graphic design, photography, advertising and product design.

You will also look at core Media issues relating to communication, research, planning and audiences.

As a Media student you will have access to all of our art, design and media facilities, which include dedicated television studio, 2 iMac editing suites, photography studio and darkroom, and a creative art suite. You will also be using industry standard software.

Work experience will be sourced with local employers to give you real world experiences that relate to the creative sector. You are supported in identifying organisations for your placements, or can generate these from your own contacts.

You will go on trips regularly to visit places such as the Harry Potter studios, live television production, course related Museum visits, and a numerous 'team building' excursions.

You will also have the chance to meet a number of guest speakers including the BBFC, BBC and local Business leaders.
5 GCSEs at grades C or above (New GCSE grade - 4 or above) or equivalent, and a portfolio of work or a Level 2 qualification to a Merit standard.
This course is free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.

For those aged 19+, this course will cost the following:

Year 1, 90 Credit Diploma Level 3 - £4670
Year 2, Extended Diploma Level 3 - £4079

Aged 19+?
If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £21,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. This course will take you 1-2 years, September to June, to complete. You will study at College for 3-4 days a week, 9.00am-4.30pm, plus 6-8 hours of independent study.

The course is also designed to allow free days to seek employment.

You will be assessed through Practical tasks (70%) such as group work, work based evidence, course work and presentations, which will be underpinned with Theory (30%) to give you a broad grounding in Media.
Successful completion of the course would allow you to progress to higher education to study any aspect of Media at university.

Should you decide to enter the world of employment the Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A-levels grade A*-C.
You may be asked to pay some contribution towards educational visits and/or workshops approx £30 per year. You will also be expected to provide your own personal media materials e.g. SD cards, external hard drives, camera film, printing costs, etc approx £80 per year.

Financial assistance can be gained from a means tested Bursary and Be Brilliant Foundation, this can be used against any of the additional costs.
