The Level 3 Film and TV Production Extended Diploma is a two year course. During your first year you will study the Level 3 Film & TV Production 90 Credit Diploma. This can be a standalone one year qualification, which is equivalent to three AS levels. Upon successful completion of the first year, you can then progress on to the second year to study the Level 3 Film & TV Production Extended Diploma, which is equivalent to three A levels.
If you are passionate about film & television, and enjoy working in a creative, exciting environment, then studying Film & TV Production is the course for you. You will work within our fully functional HD TV Studio and creative editing suites to gain experience in many different areas on Film & Television, as well as engaging with local businesses to work on live industry briefs.
You will learn to produce creative short films, documentaries, animations, music videos, live TV shows, advertisements, visual effects, gain experience in starting a production company, and much more. Your lecturers all have a working knowledge of the Film & TV industry and are still actively involved in the business outside of the College, resulting in accurate, up to date knowledge being shared in lectures.
What will I do?
You will complete a variety of projects covering film and television. You will also look at core issues relating to planning, communication, research and audiences.
As a Film & TV student you will have access to all of our facilities, including a dedicated HD TV Studio and three iMac editing suites, and you will have access to a wide range of industry standard equipment and software.
Work experience will be sourced with local employers to give you real world experiences that relate to the creative sector. You will be supported in identifying organisations for your placements, or you can generate these from your own contacts.
You will go on trips to visit places such as the Harry Potter Studios, Live Television Productions, Film Festivals and course related museum visits. You will also have the chance to meet a number of guest speakers who work in different areas of the industry.
In addition to your course, you may also study either Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths, dependent on your current GCSE grade.
The entry qualifications for the Level 3 Film and TV Production Extended Diploma are five GCSEs at grades C or above (New GCSE grade 4 or above) or equivalent, and a portfolio of work or a Level 2 qualification to a Merit standard.
This Film and TV Production Extended Diploma is free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.

Aged 19+? If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. The Film and TV Production Extended Diploma will take you two years to complete. You will study at College for three-four days a week, 9:00am - 4:30pm, plus six-eight hours of independent study.
