COUNSELLING SERVICE
Boston College counselling service is staffed by a team of professionally qualified and experienced counsellors who work with people of all ages, and who work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Ethical Framework for good practice.
What do the counsellors provide?
The counsellors provide an opportunity to explore and discuss any difficulties which may be affecting personal or College life. The service is confidential.
Students can come to see the counsellors about a wide range of issues and areas of concern such as:
- Relationship difficulties
- Living away from home
- Bereavement
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Eating problems
- Sexual problems
- Abuse
- Stress
- Gender Identity
- Problems at College
- Self Harm
- Thoughts of suicide
The aims of the Boston College Counselling Services are to offer a safe and confidential environment to work through some of the issues affecting your life.
You may be entitled to financial assistance through the College Learning Support Fund. This can be discussed with the counsellors who will help you to complete the Learning Support Fund application form which can be found in your pack.
The Boston College Counselling Code of Practice ensures that:
- The counsellors will help you to make your own decisions.
- Counselling sessions will involve only you and the counsellor.
- Confidentiality and privacy will be maintained throughout.
